No seriously, good game. I'm a big fan of you trying to increase transparency, and I love that you're giving us the rationale behind these update decisions. Instead of us getting blindsided by seemingly random changes, we receive these infoblurbs that explain the direction y'all are aiming at. While I would like to see a bit more exposition, I'd like to say thanks and kudos all around for keeping this going in a most excellent manner.

Ha! You people were expecting a rant! bwahahaha

It is good that Anet actually now start explaining why something was changed, even Blizzard not usually do that in patch notes.

Most of the patch changes in WoW, however, make sense and aren't too complicated if you pay attention. For some that are incredibly weird and create 1000 post rants (such as the switching of talent tries of Sweeping Strikes and Death Wish in path 2.3), a mod usually clarifies.

In GW, however, no one except the hardcore PvPers know what Izzy does and if it makes sense or not.

The real question: why is Gaile providing a Dev update on a 2 week old balance?

What's interesting is that this confirms that PvP balance issues drive skill updates that affect the PvE game as an afterthought.

This is probably OK, I guess. But interesting to see that (in particular) GvG balance is the primary concern.

Actually this isn't entirely new. A.net has done this about 8 times before today and provided explinations for their skill balances. Its not usual, but its not entirely unheard of either.

I don't think that write-up was late. I remember seeing it shortly after the skill update happened. Maybe Gaile decided to copy it and put it on her page later on though.

Ah well that is nice to know why they changed stuff, now I understand it more.

Though.. I'm still going to bring tons of searing flames eles! lol. It seems to dominate most things that I find hard in PvE.

Like I said in the OP, this sure as heck isn't the first time. I'm just thanking them somewhere they'll notice it.

Gaile wasn't late posting the update; the OP specifically linked to the 12 October update, instead of just linking to the source page.

This link takes you to the Gaile Talk page, which you may peruse at your leisure.
